The proof is in the pudding as they say, and Christie is the pudding. Her first bartending job was at a newly-opened Red Lobster location in West Phoenix 20 years ago that was opened and trained by the ShowTenders team headed by Bumby. We know this industry is small… but c’mon! Right? It’s true. Christie fell in love with bartending and paid her way through college on those days spent making the famous Lobsterita.
When Christie finished her undergrad and after a quickie wedding at a drive-through chapel in Vegas, she followed her husband to Europe on Air Force orders and started working as a newspaper reporter. This blossomed into an editing role and eventually, Christie was tasked with starting a marketing office to serve the needs of the U.S. military Armed Forces Recreation program covering Southern Germany.
A fateful marketing seminar in Europe led Christie to Patrick Henry Creative Promotions (PHCP), which evolved into a relocation to Houston and a 4-year career at PHCP. During that time, she created programming and beverage programs for HMSHost, Consolidated Restaurant Operations, Outback Steakhouse and House of Blues. Upon leaving PHCP, Christie focused on finishing her MBA and started her own small consulting firm to provide marketing and design services.
Once Christie completed her MBA, she went to work for Sidney Frank Importing Company handling the U.S. territory for national accounts under the guidance of the incredible Teddy McAleer. She managed a portfolio of 200+ national accounts and was serving in that role when Jägermeister hit its all-time sales record of nearly 3M cases. Christie’s favorite part of the job was building the new brands that Sidney Frank developed over the 6 years she spent in the role. At SFIC, Christie was known for her passion, energy and commitment to every account… and that’s why she was awarded Vendor of the Year on three occasions. Christie is also privileged to serve on the advisory council of the Hospitality Executive Exchange.
In 2016, Christie found herself in the coffee business selling the globally-leading LaVazza brand. Again, Christie handled the entire U.S., learned an incredible amount of coffee-related info and drank a ton of free coffee. After a while however, Christie began to miss the LBW side of the industry and so fortuitously, that is when Bumby called.
One bright sunny day, Christie and Bumby had a call about how awesome it would be to truly work together and collaborate on all the wonderful things Bumby saw in Straight Up Solution’s future.
